The fellowship period may begin after receiving a letter of acceptance from the Feinberg Graduate School.

  

The fellowship period may not begin if five years have passed since the approval of the PhD degree.

  

The host may make the beginning of the program conditional to the following:

1.

Receipt of financial support from the either the Dean of the faculty, or from an external source.

2. A trial period of up to three months.

Timeframe

  

The length of time allowed for the fellowship period is up to three years.

  

The fellowship period will not continue if five years have passed since the approval of the PhD degree.

  

In case of foreign citizens, the length of the fellowship period is also subject to approval by the Israeli Ministry of the Interior.

 
Regulations Concerning FGS Graduates

  

FGS graduates may stay on as postdoctoral fellows in the same groups in which they have studied for up to one year.

  

FGS graduates may do their postodctoral training in a group different  than the one in which they did their PhD research provided that the subject of the postdoctoral research is differnent than the subject of the PhD research, and the PhD advisor is not involved in that research (a written statement is required).

 

Early Termination

  

By the postdoctoral fellow:
A postdoctoral fellow may terminate his/her fellowship period at WIS at any time
 

  

By the host:
Early termination (i.e. before the period which the host and the fellow agreed on), of the fellowship period by the host is possible provided the following conditions are met*:

A. Within the first year:

1.

An approval, in advance, by the Chair of the Postdoctoral Fellowship Program at WIS.

2.

If the fellowship is supported by an external foundation (through an agreement signed between the foundation and WIS), an approval by the particular foundation is also required in advance.

3.

The postdoctoral fellow will be notified, in writing, at least three months in advance (a copy will be sent to the FGS).

4.

Foreign postdoctoral fellows will be entitled to reimbursement of flight expenses back to their home country. This condition does not apply if the fellow moved to another research group at WIS.


B. After the first year:

1.

If the fellowship is supported by an external foundation (through an agreement signed between the foundation and WIS), an approval by the particular foundation is also required in advance.

2.

The host informed the postdoctoral fellow, in writing, at least two months in advance (a copy must be sent to FGS).

These restrictions do not apply to FGS graduates who continue in the same research group.
