Visa information (overseas students)

General
All foreign citizens are required to obtain a student visa prior to their arrival to Israel. The Graduate School helps them with the necessary arrangements.

Entry Visa Requirements
First and foremost, please check the website of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs whether or not citizens of your country need an entry visa to Israel. If such a visa is indeed required then please follow the REGULAR procedure for obtaining a student visa. Otherwise, please follow the instructions under SHORT procedure.

Regular Procedure for Obtaining a Student Visa

Download the  student visa application form

Complete the form, attach to it a passport-size photo and sign it
Scan the form and a photocopy of your passport, and submit it (as an email attachment) to the Feinberg Graduate School.
The Graduate School forwards the application to the appropriate authorities.

If the Israeli Ministry of Interior approves the application (the approval process may take up to four weeks), the Graduate School immediately notifies the candidate.

After receipt of this notice from the Graduate School, the candidate must contact the Israeli consulate listed on the application and arrange receipt of the student visa (A-2) – issuing the visa by the consulate may take up to two week.

Short Procedure for Obtaining a Student Visa
The visa applicant must contact the nearest Israeli consulate to arrange for receipt of a student visa (A-2) prior to his/her departure to Israel. It is likely that he/she will be required to submit a visa application form (see below), and the acceptance letter issued by the Graduate School (MSc/PhD students, postdoctoral fellows and participants in the Kupcinet-Getz Program) or, an invitation letter (visiting students) issued by the hosting scientist or scientific department.

Limitations
1.

The Graduate School helps with arrangements for entry visas and visa extensions for foreign students and Postdoctoral Fellows and their families (only husband, wife and children). The Ministry of Interior does NOT allow the Graduate School to help with visas for a spouse (who is not officially married to the student/ postdoctoral fellow), parents or siblings.

2.

Student visas are by no means work permits! While a student visa holder is allowed receiving a monthly stipend, he/she are not allowed to engage in any kind of employment and be paid a salary.

Fees
Visa applications may be subject to fees by the Israeli government.
