Admission Procedures

Eligibility
The Weizmann Institute of Science's annual Kupcinet-Getz International Science School is open to candidates of all nations, regardless of religion, race, or gender.

Threshold Academic Requirements

Applicants must be students enrolled in undergraduate science degree programs (in Physics; Chemistry; Life Sciences; Mathematics; or Computer Science). BSc and BA degree holders are not eligible to apply.

Candidates should give evidence of a serious interest in scientific research (previous experience is an advantage but not a requirement).

Overseas candidates should have a grade point average 3.6/4.0 or the equivalent in the grades associated with their major subject. Israeli students must have a grade point average of at least 90/100 to apply.

Required Language Proficiency
Participants must be fluent in English. Please note that English is the language of instruction at FGS.

Limited Number of Positions
Each year, FGS may accept a limited number of candidates to the program. Therefore, at times, FGS is forced to reject worthy candidates because the number of suitable applications exceeds the number of positions available to the FGS.

Reviewing the Applications
The head of the program and the Feinberg Graduate School Boards of Studies review the application files and rank them based on the information provided in these files (that includes: CV, transcripts, letters of reference, and the letter of motivation). Important: please note that only applications submitted by the deadline and in full (i.e. with all relevant documents) are reviewed and considered.

Matching Candidates with WIS Scientists
The top ranked files are sent to the scientists who then decide whether or not to accept the candidates who named them specifically. At the same time the top ranked files are also sent to all WIS Faculty members for their consideration. It often happens that scientists offer candidates a placement in their groups even though the candidates did not originally indicate their name as an option.

Announcing the Results
Once the matching process is done, FGS notifies all candidates about the result of their application. This is usually done by March 31st.

Confirmation
Students accepted to the program are required to confirm their participation, or decline it, in writing, by April 30th.
